Dish Network Beats Q4 Earnings, Lags Revenue

Leading satellite TV operator in the U.S., Dish Network Corp. (DISH), provides almost 280 basic video channels to its customers. Meanwhile, the company’s subscriber count stands at approximately 14 million.

Dish Network currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) but that could change following its fourth quarter 2014 earnings report which has just released. The company has generated a positive average earnings surprise of 3.11% in the previous four quarters. We have highlighted some of the key stats from this just-revealed announcement below:

Earnings: The Company beats fourth quarter earnings. Our consensus called for EPS of $0.43, and the company reported EPS of $0.88.

Revenue: Dish Network generated total revenue of $3,681.7 million, below the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3,704 million.

Key Stats to Note: At the end of the fourth quarter of 2014, DISH Network had approximately 13.978 million pay-TV subscribers against 14.057 million at the end of the 2013. Further, the company added net 141,000 broadband subscribers in 2014.
